1987 ``Diploma di maturita' scientifica'', with 60/60 marks.
1993 ``Laurea in matematica'' at the University of Pisa with 110/110 marks ``cum laude'', defending a thesis on numerical methods for Markov chains, advisors professors D.A. Bini and L. Lenzini.
1998 PhD in Mathematics at University of Pisa, defending the thesis `Fast algorithms for the numerical solution of structured Markov chains'', advisor professor D.A. Bini.

Research Interests:

The scientific activity concerns various aspects of numerical linear algebra, with special attention to application problems, computational problems in applied probability, Markov chains and queueing theory, graph theory, nonlinear matrix equations, matrix functions, algebraic Riccati equations, and structured linear systems.
